About
RollARecipe.com is a small, independently run recipe site built around one idea: a recipe calling itself "authentic" should actually be checked against real culinary sources, not just copied from whatever else is already popular online. “What Should I Cook Today?” is the question—and tagline—that inspired the recipe picker.
What makes this different
Every recipe here — currently spanning East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Americas — is researched against multiple authoritative sources (cookbook authors known for rigor in that cuisine, cultural food writers, and established culinary references) before it's added. When a dish has legitimate regional variations, the most historically canonical version is used as the main recipe, with a note explaining how other regions or households make it differently, rather than silently picking one version and ignoring the rest.
Photos go through the same scrutiny. Every image is visually checked against the dish it's meant to represent before publishing — matching a recipe by tag or keyword alone isn't good enough, since that's exactly how so many recipe sites end up illustrating "harissa" with a green herb sauce or "jerk chicken" with a sandwich.
Who's behind it
This site is written and maintained by an independent home cook with a long-running interest in food history and traditional technique, not a media company or a content farm. New recipes and kitchen tips are added in small batches, each one held to the same standard, rather than in bulk for its own sake.
The "roll the dice" picker
The randomizer on the homepage exists for the ordinary reason every home cook has faced this question: sometimes you just don't know what to make, and scrolling through a huge list doesn't help. It picks a real, complete recipe from the library — not a suggestion to go search somewhere else.
