The Pinch Grip Gives You More Knife Control
Gripping a knife purely by the handle puts your fingers behind the blade's pivot point, which makes fine control over the tip and edge harder — most of the leverage is in the wrong place. Pinching the blade itself between thumb and forefinger just above the handle, with the remaining fingers curled around the handle, puts your grip right at the blade's balance point, giving noticeably more precision and reducing wrist fatigue over long cutting sessions.
