Cuban Sandwich
Roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles pressed hot on Cuban bread until crisp — a Cuban-exile creation that took its now-classic shape in the Cuban communities of Tampa and Miami.

Ingredients
- 500g pork shoulder, mojo-marinated (orange juice, lime juice, garlic, cumin, oregano) and roasted
- 1 loaf Cuban bread (or a soft, light French-style loaf), split lengthwise
- 200g thinly sliced deli ham
- 200g Swiss cheese, sliced
- Dill pickle slices
- Yellow mustard
- Butter or olive oil, for the outside of the bread
Steps
- Slice the roasted mojo pork thinly.
- Spread yellow mustard on both cut sides of the bread.
- Layer the ham, roast pork, Swiss cheese, and pickle slices onto the bottom half of the bread.
- Close the sandwich with the top half and brush both outer sides with butter or olive oil.
- Press in a panini press or heavy skillet with a weight on top, grilling for 5-6 minutes per side, until the bread is golden and crisp and the cheese has melted.
- Slice diagonally and serve hot.
